Seeing her childhood cat struggle through health issues, and noticing the way her family’s veterinarian provided comfort through the most difficult of times, made a lasting impression on Dr. Genevieve Brown. She knew that she wanted to do the exact same thing for other pet owners. Dr. Brown decided to dedicate her life to the animal-care profession! Now, she’s proud to help pets and their owners daily as an Associate Veterinarian.
Originally from Lapeer, Dr. Brown earned her undergraduate degree in biology at Grand Valley State University before heading off to veterinary school at Michigan State University. After graduating, she worked in West Bloomfield before relocating to Lake Orion to be closer to family. Dr. Brown joined the Orion Animal Care Center family when the clinic opened in August of 2019, and she’s been helping the area’s pets and animal parents ever since!
Medically, Dr. Brown loves soft-tissue surgery because of the way it allows her to make an immediate difference in a pet’s health, and she’s also fond of abdominal ultrasound. When she can make a lasting impact on both pet and owner, she feels that she’s done her best work.
At home, Dr. Brown likes spending time with her husband, Derrick, and their two young daughters. As a family, they love to spend time outdoors, go for walks, and sing songs from their favorite Disney movies. Dr. Brown also loves to make—and eat!—homemade pasta like fettuccini and ravioli. The family shares their lives with two cats, Shandy and Penelope, as well as a Terrier mix named Dakota whose favorite pastime is protecting the backyard from squirrels.
